CHIROPRACTIC & STRESS

Under stress, messages from your brain tell your muscles to tighten, particularly around your spine, neck and head.  If the stress is significant, constant or repeated it can result in Vertebral Subluxation.

Winter Immune Boost

You know it’s that time of year again when colleagues are taking days off, kids are bringing home sniffles as well as homework, and you’re feeling anywhere from not-quite-right to downright dreadful! We live in a great country that’s sunny all year around, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get the winter blues – usually in the form of a cold or flu.

 

The best thing you can do this winter is arm yourself with a good, strong immune system. That way, if you don’t escape every sniffle this year, you can at least get back on your feet quicker.

 

Apart from circulating viruses and bacteria, many things contribute to a weakened immune system; stress, drugs and chemicals, sugar, alcohol, environmental toxins and a poor diet. Improved lifestyle in these areas will better fortify your immune system.

 

Increased physical movement can also improve resistance to infections, by allowing the lymphatic system to better pump cellular waste products away from the cells, into the blood to be processed and expelled.

 

So what extra help can you give your body? Some supplements at this time of the year can really make a difference to your resistance to (or recovery from) infections.

 

Vitamin C with bioflavonoids

A good vitamin C powder or tablet is excellent for enhancing the immune system, as well as the adrenal glands – meaning it is very adept at tackling infections and stress. Vitamin C also has an important role in wound-healing.

 

Zinc

Zinc is a crucial mineral for lowered immunity as it has been shown to increase T lymphocyte production, and other white blood cell functions. Zinc is for improving immunity, hair/skin/nail health, hoarseness from throat infections, gastric ulcers, psoriasis and is vital for fertility and pregnancy (see practitioner for further advice). And like Vitamin C, Zinc also enhances wound healing.

Most people are deficient in zinc – ask your natural health practitioner about easy tests to assess your levels of zinc.

 

Herbs

There are a number of herbal treatments for immune enhancement. The selection of herbs is tailored to each individual, depending on other influencing factors in their lives. Your natural health practitioner should be able to suggest an appropriate formula.

My name is Louise and I am one of the new Chiropractors here at All Natural Chiropractic and Health. 

I have been working with many different chiropractors all very exceptional people and practitioners. My ultimate approach is looking at the body holistically. Taking into account all aspects of what makes up a person. This includes the physical, mental, emotional, chemical and environmental.  

I have a keen interest in nutrition, exercise and eliminating where possible harmful chemicals that we come in contact with and use on a daily basis. My approach is also low force and I use a variety of ways to assist the body to function at its optimum. I use such techniques as SOT (the Blocks), the Activator (The Clicker), Drop Piece table, Webster Technique for pregnant women and some AK (Applied Kinesiology) and NET (Neuro - Emotional Technique). I love seeing all ages from new born to the more mature (the oldest patient being 96 years young). 

I am looking forward to being apart of the practice and I look forward to meeting everyone at some stage of your care here at All Natural Chiropractic and Health.
