Massage Therapy
Massage Therapy has been used for centuries as a natural solution for relaxation, remedial purposes and stress relief. Here at ANC Health we offer many Massage Therapy techniques to cater for your every need.
Remedial Massage
Remedial Massage focuses on treating injuries, postural imbalances and muscular aches and pains. Remedial Massage techniques are used to locate tense muscular tissue and provide a healing treatment that can be gentle, strong, deep or shallow. Massage of these tense areas helps speed up the body’s own repair mechanisms.
Some benefits include:
- Stimulation to the blood supply, allowing toxins in the muscles to be removed
- Calming of the peripheral nervous system to ease pain and discomfort
- Improvement to the health of cells, the repairing of tissues and the easing of stiffness and tension
Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage is a system of long strokes, kneading, friction, tapping, percussion, vibration and shaking motions that apply pressure between muscles and bones, rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. Swedish Massage feels good, and is relaxing and invigorating. The main purpose of Swedish Massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles.
Some benefits include:
- Shortening recovery time from muscular strain
- Increased circulation without increased heart load
- Stretching of ligaments and tendons, skin stimulation
- Soothing effect on the nervous system
- Reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested as part of a regular program for stress management
Sports Massage
Sports Massage offers distinct advantages for pre-event, inter-event, post-event and rehabilitation treatment and is increasingly regarded by professional athletes and coaches as playing an essential role in enhancing athletic performance and preventing injury.
Sports Massage increases flexibility and range of movement. This results in a faster healing process and has the unique benefit of breaking down scar tissue, which can otherwise lead to reduced tissue mobility. The treatment assists injury through early detection of muscle dysfunction. It also promotes faster recovery after training and competition at both physical and psychological levels.
Sports massage is particularly beneficial when an athlete is in training for an event. It's also helpful for anyone who routinely stretches their physical limits through movement.
Sporting injuries are commonly experienced when an individual has over-trained, fails to sufficiently warm up, receives trauma, or has muscular imbalances, poor flexibility, mineral deficiencies, inadequate endurance, or simply does too much too soon. Insufficient muscle strength and poor muscle tone may also lead to injury or a muscle tear. Sports massage can also be beneficial in rehabilitation. It can accelerate the healing process, increase range of motion, reduce adhesion's, and reduce swelling, bruising, and pain.
Areas of stress in other muscles, created through compensating for an injury, can be eased with a regular sports massage regimen. Sports massage can partially compensate for lack of exercise during inactivity while recovering from injury.
Acupressure Massage
Tui Na or Acupressure Massage is a form of Chinese Medical massage and joint manipulation using the basic theory of traditional Chinese Medicine as a guide using acupressure, a broad range of hand techniques and stretches. It is not a muscular massage but a harmonious manual treatment using mild mechanical stretching of the connective tissue to facilitate decongestion of lymph ducts. This allows regenerative fluid to flow and improves circulation and toxin removal as well as carrying vital substances to areas where it is needed, thus hastening healing times.
